Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former trainer his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first title following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
