Cars in German Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities stated they were contacted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Police then discovered many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis show the substance was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no lead as to its source; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.

City officials stated they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the public for information.

A high-ranking official commented the attack rendered him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
